2 datafeeds

Postby O66 » 04 Sep 2008

i have 3 datafeeds.
In this case i want to combine IB feed for the ES (history) and Zenfire for the ES (real time)

both feeds are working.

if i create a 110 tick chart and in format symbol i add ib as datasource for history and zenfire for realtme the chart is building with ib feed....(realtime)

the chart is exactly the same as a chart with only IB feed
the zenfire chart (for real time and history) is different

how can i create a chart with zenfire for realtime data and ib feed for backfilling?

im using MC 3.1.1353.400
Thanks

Hi O66,

The charts should be different. Try running the following experiment:

When merging data sources, use different symbols for real-time and history. For example, use YM from IB for history and ES from ZenFire for real-time. And then plot a chart from IB for YM. You should see the difference in real-time data.

Let me know how the experiment goes and if there still seems to be a problem.

Best regards.

if i select zenfire for realtime / and IB for history and let it run for 10 minutes i expect that that chart for the last 10 minutes is equal to a chart with only zenfire feed.

is this correct? if yes then it is not working for me
the chart is looking the same as with IB feed alone (what is done with realtime zenfire feed what delivers a much more detailed tick chart...)

attached screenshot from experiment
leftside:
historical ym with IB feed and ES with Zenfire feed merged

rightside YM with ib feed

what to do

thanks

Hi O66,

We ran the same test, but for us the results were very different. See the attached screenshot.

If you want, you can contact our customer support representatives at http://messenger.providesupport.com/mes ... pport.html

They will connect to your pc and double-check your merging settings. It looks like the might not be quite correct.

Our customer support via LiveChat will be available today till 2pm EDT.

Regards.

support checked and confirmed a bug in MC

we did upgrade to MC 4.0

"you can't merge historical data for a instrument with Real time data for same on another chart
you'll have to close MultiCharts and QuoteManager to do this
or you can merge say history for YM with Real time for anther symbol right away"

not sure if i completely understand this because imo this wasnt the case in version 3.1.
all i want is to merge 2 datafeeds for same instrument
ES via IB feed for history and ES via zen fire feed for real time

thanks

Hi O66,

This bug in MC manifests itself as follows:

- Two data sources are mereged. Let us say that IB is used for historyand ZenFire is used for real time
- Another chart is plotted. The data is requested from IB
- The second chart, instead of receiving real-time from IB, will be receiving real-time from Zen Fire

The opposite situation also causes problems.

- A symbol from IB is plotted in a chart window
- In a different chart window, a chart is plotted using IB for history and Zen Fire for real-time
- The chart with merging will be receiving real-time from IB (and not from Zen Fire)

The fix is planned for the 4.2 version.

Thank you for helping us to find the bug.

Regards.
