"No Security Definition is found for the request"

Postby reitberg » 12 Sep 2008

I am using
MC 4.0 beta 2 (build 1573).

Zen Fire Feed for data.

Interactive Brokers for trading

Vista Ultimate (64)

I would like to automate my trades. I am having difficulty getting this to work. The error is returned:

"No Security Definition has been found for the request"

I am thinking that this has something to do with the symbols dictionary, but I am not able to add symbols or edit symbols. Is there anything else that I should do?

if you are using zen demo... the symbol available are limited.

if you are testing out autotrade... try IB demo system...

http://individuals.interactivebrokers.c ... entity=llc
click on the Demo tab, then select individual account.

I can't get either broker to work in automation. I will have to contact tech support.

Tech support won't be back until Monday.

The basic autotrade works. Many people are testing their strategies right now, so it is not a matter of MC not working.

Please feel free to let us know what you are trying to achieve, and what you have done to receive that error message. Maybe some of us can help to get you started... Don't want you to miss a weekend's worth of testing.

I am trying to use the IB paper trader. I'm using the Zen Fire data feed (not the IB data feed) in the charts in MC. I am running my strategy and I am trying to see if it will work in real time in IB.

I don't know how to get this work in IB

TJ,

I figured out how to get IB to work in automation with MC. I knew that the problem was with matching up the data feed symbol with the underlying IB symbol. The symbols table is a little weird when you go to setup the IB automated trading. I have to right click on the fields to change symbols/exchanges, etc, but it worked.
