range bar

Postby Gary Wedel » 30 Mar 2009

Is it possible to view an emini sp chart with each bar having a range of 1.5 points? When I try I receive message that number must be under 10000 and that appears to be a 1 point range.

I am using v4b1440.

on es 1 point chart, I am getting bars that are 1 tick in height (0.25).

when I set it to 2 points, I am getting bars that are 2 ticks in height (0.50).

I have never used point charts before. I don't know if this is the correct behavior.

my es symbol setting is as follow:
price scale: 1/100
min move: 25
big point value: 50

Yes,

200 = 2.00 pts
175 = 1.75 pts
150 = 1.50 pts
125 = 1.25 pts
100 = 1.00 pts

Just make sure the ES price scale in Quote Manager is set to 1/100.

Some time ago there was a change in the way that Range bars were implemented. It now goes on the basis of ticks.

So for a 1.50 range bar, I put in 6 for the number of points. The terminology also adds a little to the confusion but once you start using them its pretty easy.
