This is not a good system where if your server is, down redundent or not, our
our programs won't function.

Don't start to hiperventilate J~ , it's saturday, chill out a bit

Don't your broker from time to time do a service maintenance during the weekend, blocking the access to it during that time? Where's the difference here?

People are so stressed out nowadays.... even during the weekends.... :?

Thank you for the warning Andrew.

This way people will know what is happening.

Actually, I had just installed beta 5 and saw a "non blinking" :D authorized sign to see it 5 min later turning into yellow and saying not authorized

I thought, oops, a new bug relating with the DRM servers. Came to the forum to see if there was any message regarding the issue and there it was, your explanation.

Again, thank you.

Arnie you have no clue the damage they did this morning when that shut down.
In your small world you have no comprehension of what others are doing and the effects. They interupted a process which is going to cause me to loose the whole day. So why don't you just butt out.

Jerry,
Don't make hasty conclusions. The system is redundant and we are shutting down all servers to test it in real life circumstances. It must work. Your Beta 5 is not redundant yet. We are testing Beta 6 in-house that is coming the next week.
The system will be up in hours.

Andrew
It crashed some automated code that has been running for hours overnight. Now I have to run it again. Which means everything else I planned to do today is history. Since this was out of the ordinary. You should of put out a days notice.

Only the live feed is disabled, right?

I can still review charts with stored data and do backtesting/optimization, right?

Let's make a rule: Every weekend all systems go down...
so people can get out of their multiple screens and do some social things.

You can still use MC in offline mode, for historical testing etc.

some of us do tests on our autotrade strategies.
we can get dummy quotes from IB on weekends.
we don't have to look at the screen, we just have to let the system run.

Andrew,

I have not been following this DRM thread very long, does this mean that all the past times that you and other support personnel told us that MC will continue to 'WORK' for 30 days between connection times to your network, is no longer valid?

If this is an effort to prevent unauthorized use, etc, an old axiom I read somewhere about 'there will always be someone a bit smarter' seems apropos.

Best,

I'd love to try it.

possible problem between IQFeef client and MC?

Postby arnie » 05 Apr 2009

I've lost my internet connection a couple of hours ago and MC was open at the time. No warning was given by MC during the time I was without internet connection.

Then the futures started to trade one hour ago and MC didn't start to collect real time data.

I restarted it but had no luck.
Then closed it again, this time I've also closed IQFeed client and reopen MC again.

Finally MC started to receive real time data.

Has this to do with the servers change or some glitch between IQFeed and MC generated by the loss of the internet connection?

regards
Fernando

look under the Demo tab.
note that this is NOT the papertrading account.
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p. ... entity=llc

the stream data is day(s) old. they just keep recycling previous days data.

the demo system works the same way as TWS...
it takes your order, processes it, as if your system is live.

one caution:
you should use a different computer to test this demo system,
because the demo data can overwrite your good data.

I'm not sure but suspect the problem is not related to DRM. We know that sometimes MC can't connect to Iqfeed. Probably it was your case.

Hi Andrew.

Can you check if beta 5 is fully compatible with the latest IQFeed client (4.5.0.3).

Today, after restarting my computer and opened MC, it didn't start receiving any realtime data again. I then opened QuoteTracker to see if I was receiving any data at all and everything was working fine.

I then closed MC, IQFeed Client, and restarted them again. This time everything went back to normal.

I don't remember this ever happened with previous versions.

regards,
Fernando

That is not what we need. When you have an issue with IQfeed go to QuoteManager>Event Log->Send us logs.
Thank you!

OK.

Lets see if that happens again at suitable hours.
Actually it happened again last night.

I had MC opened and when ES futures started to trade, nothing happened.
Closed IQfeed client and reopened it, and again, no quotes.
Then closed MC and IQfeed, reopened both, and only then I finally started to receive quotes.

24 hours has passed since MC connection and so far not a single problem.

Hey Andrew,

There's definately something wrong here because I've just reiniciated MC and though IQfeed client and QM are receiving data, my charts aren't  :?

I'll try to arrive sooner tomorrow to see if I can contact the helpdesk so they can see what is going on here.

You should change the helpdesk time schedule at least til the end of the US stock markets.

Regards,
Fernando
