I tried a couple of more times to install this into the system 32 and I ran the bat file a few times and did some restarts on QT. Eventually, the Zen Fire feed loaded!!!

It just took some time but it works.

How do we get historical data to load using Zenfire?

Also, is there a list of symbols and exchanges for Zenfire?

How do we get historical data to load using Zenfire?
Zen Fire only provides real-time. No history is available from this data feed.
Also, is there a list of symbols and exchanges for Zenfire?
You can find the information on symbols here: http://www.ampfutures.com/contract_specs.html

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards.

Zenfire does provide historical tick and minute data. It does not provide historical daily data. It is easy to construct daily bars from the minute data you can use 405 minute or 1425 minute bars instead.

Thanks for implementing the feed really appreciated it but it would be great to support historical data too!

Zenfire does provide historical tick and minute data.
As far as i know, the historical data is provided by the "NT historical market data server".
NT collects the ZenFire data and provides it as historical data for ZenFire and TT users.

Btw the ZenFire EUREX data sucks, it's only snapshot data (max 4 updates/sec) and no real volume! (always 99)

Ahh OK if that is the case pardon me. I don't believe there is volume data with Eurex either

Hi guys,

If the demand for history from Zen Fire is high enough, we will also start collecting their real-time on our data and then give it as history to our customers.

That would be great... there is a big demand for accurate historical data I am sure. Anything that improves on esignal is great.

zenfire history

Hi Marina,
providing a ZenFire history server to your customers is a great idea, thanks for bringing it up & considering it! I'm sure you get plenty of votes for this :D

Thank you,

The demand for Zen Fire is very high. Everybody I know is totally fed up with the TS and Esignal datafeeds.

Zen is the best datafeed that I've seen in the 10 years I've been watching electronic markets.

Thank you for your feedback guys.

We'll definitely consider gathering their history and providing it to our customers in future mc implementations.

ZenFire feed & SSL connection

Postby Sigma Trader » 11 Jul 2008

I installed the Zenfire datafeed dll and then activated Zenfire in the MC Quote Manger Tools/DataSources. I got a trial username and pw from the Mirus website, but an SSL connection path is needed to complete the ZF feed activation in MC. Mirus techie told me the SSL comes from TSSupport. Help, i really want to test some code in MC using Zenfire.

Historical data would be great. Also, some clarification about the SSL certificate path please.

ZenFire connection

Postby Sigma Trader » 13 Jul 2008

Ignoring the SSL issue for the moment since no one at TSSUPPORT seems to know the answer, here is what i get in the Quote Manager Event Log when creating a chart using Zenfire and ESU8
Connecting to Zenfire
Connecting to real-time data for ESU8.CME
Market Data Connection Opened

Well, now, this looks all well and good, but at the top of the chart is the message "No data"

So, the question is what is wrong? Is the symbol wrong? Does Zenfire have data on Sunday for the ES?

Would someone who has successfully made the Zenfire connection step in here and offer some information on their experience? Many Thanks.

BTW, the install *.bat file didn't work on Vista 64bit. Needed to copy and register file manually.

Postby Sigma Trader » 13 Jul 2008

finally got data flow from Zenfire, account type had to be set to Live not Sim per a previous post. Still don't know about the SSL, guess it doesn't matter.

Any folder works for the SSL certificate field?

Postby Sigma Trader » 14 Jul 2008

The explanation is still incomplete for many computer users.
Maybe your programmers understand, but the users don't.
Would you mind explaining thoroughly how this SSL feature works?
Is an SSL certificate required?
Where does it come from, TSSUPPORT, Mirus-Zen-Fire, Verisign, other?
When does it get installed?
Is an SSL automatically assigned and then stored in the specified folder?
Your answer implies that the SSL feature is not implemented and the folder can be empty.

It would be helpful if the Readme.txt in the zip file had complete procedural explanations for the setup including whether the account has to be Sim or Live. Apparantly a Mirus/Zen-Fire demo account is a Live account not a Sim account. Mirus tech support for MC does not exist, or so they say. MultiCharts is not listed on their site as supported software. Also free Mirus/Zen-Fire username and passwords can be obtained at this url http://www.mirusfutures.com.

Mind Reading

Postby Sigma Trader » 14 Jul 2008

OK, maybe you are saying that the SSL certificate is not used on Mirus/Zen-Fire DEMO accounts, but maybe is used on REAL accounts? Or maybe it is optional?

In the 'SSL certificates path' field you can specify any folder located on
your computer for either sim or live account.

Here's why:

This field was given to us as required for to receive data from zen fire in Multicahrts. However, later it turned out that the data feed does not use this field at all. This is why it is enough to specify any folder in the 'ssl certificates path'. It's not something that we invented. Nor can be do anything to make sure it is really used.

I'm trying to get the Sugar #11 (SB) data from Zen fire into MC. I would like the October contract. I can't seem to get this to work. I'm using the NYBOT exchange. Is there another exchange to use? I looked up the symbol on the AMP Futures site.

Can anybody else get this to work in MC? Thanks

I am having trouble installing the Zen Fire dll on Vista Ultimate. As Kelly Simon mentioned, the bat file does not work. I have tried to register the dll manually, but I am having problems.

What should I put in the command line in vista ultimate 64?
I attached a picture with the error message. I am logged in as an administrator.

Kelly,

I figured it out!!!! In Vista, there is this horrible demon called "User Account Control." Everything is running fine and the ZF datafeed is working in MC quote manager.

I found a web site which told me how to turn off UAC in the secpol.msc

ocm1,

is it possible that you are missing the contract month, too? Shouldn't it be something like 6EU8. At least this is the way it works for the ES.

ZenFire data is attracting lot of attention.

I wonder: other things being equal would ZenFire data increase profitability?

Possibly for a scalper. It is not only a data feed but an execution engine. Some think it has surpassed TT in speed and data completeness.

Nick,

Thank you.

NEXT QUESTION:

Amongst the topics which have run more than a month, this one, with more than 1250 views per month, is probably the most popular.

What on earth are so many wanna be scalpers doing with MultiCharts?

Hello Zen-Fire users,

I have a problem with the Zen-fire feed. It does not backfill data. When I shut down my MC for an hour, then my MC is unable to collect the one hour missing data into my MC. Please see the screenshot of ES. Is there any solution to this problem?

Regards

Marina,

Will the new zenfire dll (that you mentioned in another thread) have the command ''Type * to show all symbols''?

Zenfire's website is ''economical'' in terms of information on the symbols they offer.

Actually that's a pretty good question! Maybe people want tip top execution and data completeness even if they are not scalpers :) After all saving a tick is still a saving.

Nothing wrong with wanting to save a tick.

But I wonder how many zen-fire adherents realise what makes one a successful trader is

proper money and trade management

not ticks saving!

Kalid spot on my friend. Tresor Zen never was a historical data feed. It is, and always has been, a real time data feed and execution engine. I think where you might have been confused in the past is that NT stores historical Zen data and provides it as a service to their customers :)

Thank you, Nick.

And your point is also valid:

a tick saved is a tick earned -- after all trading is a business.

Sadly most traders are inclined to look for this not by disciplined application but through external aids.
