database misplacement?

Postby arnie » 03 May 2009

Hi.

I've just copy the .GDB files form my XP desktop (MC version5 beta6) into my Vista laptop (MC version5 beta5) so I could continue my work, but something is not right.

In Vista, the folder where the database file is, is not the same as the XP. In Vista the files are in C:\ProgramData\TS Support\MultiCharts\Databases.

I deleted the previous .GDB files and paste the new ones, but when I opened PLE I continued with the previous indicators list and not the new one :?

Is there a problem moving de files from beta6 into beta5?
Does Vista has another folder where there's another database folder?

Does anyone had this problem before?

Regards,
Fernando

the indicators (studies) are NOT in the gob file.

gob is the database only.

the studies are in
C:\ProgramData\TS Support\MultiCharts\studyserver\studies

Thanks TJ.

Although all indicators are now in my laptop, the display of them in the folders are different.

I've created a couple of folders so I could manage them in a better way but strangely enought, when I opened PLE in my laptop, a couple of them went to the Indicator default folder instead of the one where they were in my desktop :?

Maybe this has to do with the fact that I'm mixing beta6 files with beta5?

:?

all your studies are in file named graph_backup.xml

just copy this file from your old computer, then do a Compile All.

note:
copying the old graph_backup.xml will overwrite all the studies in your new computer.
please make copies of everything before you overwrite or change anything.
