Custom chart hint

Postby janus » 27 May 2009

Is there a way to include additional values in the chart hint window without plotting them (aka balloon)? I tried to use plot and noplot but that combination prevents the display of the values.

in the Format > Study window, set the plot to invisible.

Thanks, that worked. The next idea is to be able to print text as well but I know that's not doable via a plot. What would be better is a separate custom balloon that is displayed when the cursor is hovering over specific (and optionally hidden) drawing objects (eg, rectangles).

theoretically it can be done... but i have not tried it.

1. draw an arrow.

2. use the mouse to move the arrow to where you want the text balloon.

3. use arw_gettime to find the position of the arrow...

then make the balloon at that location

Now that I'm using real values, the vertical scale is all wrong since the numbers are much smaller than the displayed indicator. I suppose there's no way to force the auto scaling to ignore the invisible plots. I could user user-defined values but I need auto scaling as I scroll back in time.

I'll try the arrow idea.

go to Format Symbol

uncheck the Expand Scale to Indicators

see attached illustration.

I don't have that option. I presume it's in the new v5.0 release of MC. I'll be downloading it later. Thanks.
