[WSP] weird and terrible thing happened

Postby 2haerim » 21 Jun 2009

I don't think this is not going to happen anybody else but happened to me.

One wsp file which I used for long time, almost since V2, was not opening this morning. I opened it in binary mode, alas, all NULL characters only.

Last Friday, while MC was running normally, VBA was also running and it crashed the system and therefore had to press the PC reset button to reboot. Then I never opened MC again. This morning, Monday, I opened the same wsp, but it failed. So I opened it in binary mode, and all I saw was bunch of 0s. The file size of the workspace remained, but the contents were all wiped out with 0s.

How can this happen? Is there any way to recover? It is nonsense for wsp file to be wiped out even though the system crashed.

The wsp file has about 100 symbols with very complicated settings.

I know I should have done backup but it would be much better MC also backs up each wsp file when modified so that in case I lost the current one, I can go back to the last one.
