Ascii data - no connection

Postby cyberdad » 10 Aug 2009

I created an ascii mapped symbol of EURUSD.
I imported the data (1-minute data) in the symbol successfully.
I can indeed see the data if I try to edit them through Quote Manager.

The problem is that when I try to load the symbol in a chart in Multicharts, it just shows the "Establishing Connection..." message forever and nothing happens. Just an empty chart and the establishing connection message.

Why is this happening?

PS:This is happening in both 5.0 release and 5.5 beta versions.

This is what I do:

1. Ascii Mapping

2. When I press the "ok" button in the "You have mapped 1 file successfully" dialog, 3 errors occur and then the Quote Manager needs to shut down.

I press "skip" or "don't send" to these errors.

4. I run QM again and a new message appears and I press ok.

5. I go inside the Quote Manager and right click on the new Ascii mapped symbol and press "Import data". Data seems fine, I press ok to start the import.

6. All records seem to be imported.

7. I further check that the records are there by right clicking on symbol and selecting "Edit data". When I load the data for a given period, it shows up just fine indeed.

8. I run Multicharts. Sometimes it gives me an error here too. Sometimes it doesn't. The error is identical to teh one appearing at step 4. Anyway, Multichart opens and I create a new chart with the ascii mapped symbol I just created.

9. I press ok and the new chart appears. Sadly it shows that it tries to establish connection but it never it does.

PS: I run multicharts in online mode and "download data"
My OS is Vista x64.
I can send you the txt data file I am using for this operation by email. I think it is too large to attach it here. Also, quite inconveniently, I can not attach more than 5 files and I also can not embed images either, so I am attaching all screenshots in a rar file.

Thank you.
