how to create second symbol in QM?

Postby arnie » 25 Oct 2009

Hi.

I'd like to create a new symbol, or better said, a different ES setting.

I've the normal ES settings (Sunday to Friday time session) but I'd like also to have the ES with the normal stock market time session, 9:30am to 4:00pm EST.

I've tried to create this, but QM warns me that that symbol already exists.

How can I have the same symbol with two different settings?

Regards,
Fernando

you don't need another symbol,

in your chart, you can choose any session time you like, whether it be 24 hrs or default session setting.

you can even create a custom sessions -- e.g. 7:30am to 4:15 pm.

just go to QM, Tools > Custom Template.

Actually I thought we could do this in QM.

When I worked with Metastock and had eSignal for datafeed, I would download the data from eSignal servers using QCollector, and with it, I would create the time spans I wanted.

For example, if I wanted to download ES data just between 8:30 and 15:00, I would just create a new setting, using the same symbol. Basically, I could create different time spans using the same symbol.

I remember I had 3 ES symbols, each downloading different time spans (overnight, regular, and full session).

Anyway, thanks for the tip TJ.
Now I'm able to do what I want :D

Fernando
