Folders for Indicators inside PLE and Studies List

Postby TIKITRADER » 03 Dec 2009

Does there exist a way to place indicators into folders for grouping instead of one long running list ?
For the PLE, and also in the studies list on a chart it would be very handy for sorting out everything.

If it does not exist can it be added in future ?

I like the folder idea too.

I have over a thousand indicators,

some of them I do not use, but do not want to delete them.

It would be nice if I can make a sub-directory and store those
seldom used indicators there.

that's only a mock up... ;-)
I don't have his indicators... I don't think they work in MultiCharts.

Oh man, that was a cheap shot

You really need to be careful with the way you communicate with people

Yes TJ. This is exactly the type of addition that would be so useful. I have indicators I would like to group in folders so I wouldn't have to scroll through the entire list.

Really makes everything quick to find and neatly placed.

Great addition to have

Apparently, I'm missing something :?

If we right click on top of Studies, we're able to create as much folders as we want outside the indicators folder.

My idea of having folders down next to Studies and Dictionary as we can see in the image above, is to help us accessing folders wthout having to scroll when we have to many indicators in one folder. This would give us a more direct access.

Also, as already discussed in another thread, the way indicators are sorted inside each folder is also a bit painful since folders inside other folders are sorted the same way as indicators are. Folders inside another folder should be always on top of the remain indicators to facilitate it's access.

Another thing, also already discussed is the creation of new indicators. Why are they always saved in the Indicators folder, forcing us to drag it to the folders we want.
We must have the possibility to choose in which folder do we want to save the indicator.

I've just remember something regarding a "safe mode" to protect indicators from getting wrongly messed up.
What about having a folder in which all indicators that we are working at, could be saved automatically everytime we hit compile or save in that same folder? This way we could always have access to previous versions of it when we mess things up, leaving the original formula always intact.

Missing are folders inside a chart, also when selecting file-open.
I would like the ability to create folders, then the folders would exist every where you open an indicator, signal, function.

When opening in a chart it would be neat to see all in folders for quick easy access. Where a File-Open exists, selecting indicators and such, the folders would also be there. It would look like TJ's example inside a chart or open file.

arnie I do like your quick tabs idea, also bringing folders to the top of order.
