Issues with the registry values of database location

Postby 2haerim » 10 Dec 2009

Yana,

The default location for the GDB files are saved in the registry.

PortfolioPath=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts\Databases\FBPORTFOLIO.GDB
StoragePath=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts\Databases\TSSTORAGE.GDB
StorageCachePath=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts\Databases\TSCACHE.GDB

Some users change the location by modifying the registry value. For example, I change it right under the MultiCharts folder so that I can easily find and back them up whenver necessary.

The problem is when MultiCharts automatically fixes itself. MC fixes itself when necessary and reinsall the default registy and database files without using the user-modified registry values.

I believe MC should behave as follows:
-- When upgrading to new version it should first read the current registry values for the database locations and upgrade using that values.
-- When MC somehow starts automatic fixing, it also should use the current registry values for the database locations.

Please check this issue.
