Incomplete history displayed on Charts

Postby auscan » 13 Jan 2010

Hi Forum,
I am trialling MC 5.5 and using Windows XP. I have imported an ASCII file with OHLC minute data for the GBPUSD going back to 2001. When I chart this symbol SubChart#1 always shows an incomplete history. For example, if I chart Daily data, I get only 710 bars displayed going back to 04/2007. However, if I call up another symbol e.g. GU (HR), and chart this on SubChart#2, I get all the data displayed back to 2001, some 54,000 bars. In the dialog box, :Format Symbol, the Data Range is set from 2001 to 2010 for both charts. Also, setting the Data Range option to display various numbers of “Days Back” does not cause the pre-2007 data to display either.
Could someone please advise me how to get all the data to plot on SubChart#1, thanks in advance.

Thanks TJ, the file is 18Mb zipped, and too big to post, However, here is the file header and first few lines:

<TICKER>,<DTYYYYMMDD>,<TIME>,<OPEN>,<HIGH>,<LOW>,<CLOSE>,<VOL>
GBPUSD,20010103,000100,1.5021,1.5021,1.5018,1.5018,4
GBPUSD,20010103,000200,1.5019,1.5019,1.5019,1.5019,4
GBPUSD,20010103,000300,1.5018,1.5019,1.5018,1.5019,4

the source is Forexite.

do you mean you get all the data of GBPUSD in subchart #1?

do you have any indicators on the chart?

There are no indicators on the chart, and all the data plots on SubChart#2, never on SubChart#1.

I am just importing another ASCII file, this one for EU, will let you know how I get on.

The EU data imported fine. I have plotted it at various timeframes using just SubChart#1, no indicators.

All the data spanning the entire period from 01/2001 to 12/2009 plotted fine using HR and MIN timeframes, but switching the symbol to Daily gave me only 704 bars, back to 2007. Weekly produced the same reduced time period (this time from 04/2005 to 12/2007). Its like there is a problem compositing the bars from the minute data into the larger timeframes.

Solution Found:

LiveSupport provided the following solution - change the time frame from 1 day to 24 hour - this solved the problem. Apparently there is a bug with selecting 1 day.
