I tried MC6.2 on Windows7 64 bit and I'm pleased to report no problems at all, works great. (maybe even a little faster than on XP)

Although this question has been asked many times here already, I confirm again that MC runs fine for me on Windows 7 X64 Ultimate.

Windows 7 is essentially just like Windows Vista in every respect that would matter for MultiCharts.

Can Multichart be supported by Windows 7
Dear Khho

MultiCharts is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 7 x64.

Anyone know if there are any performance advantages running 64-bit (in either Vista or Windows 7) compared to running 32-bit in Windows XP (the latter is my current configuration)?

Thanks!

If you have more than 2GB of RAM, 64 bit Windows will allow you to better exploit this, as 32 bit Windows limits all 32 bit applications to 2GB in aggregate, while 64 bit Windows can run each 32 bit application in its own 2GB address space, memory permitting. Thus, traders who use many trading applications on the same computer will have a good benefit from 4GB (or especially >4GB) of RAM in that each application will have access to more than it would have under 32 bit Windows.

Other than the memory issue, 64 bit Windows should be slightly slower (but not significantly) than 32 bit Windows at running a 32 bit application on the same 64 bit hardware. The performance loss is related to the "windows on windows" or WOW32 emulation layer which simulates a 32 bit environment for each 32 bit application, since it isn't provided natively by 64 bit Windows.
