What is the VIX indicator? Is it available for the Forex?

Postby arjfca » 23 Feb 2011

Hello

I just read an article about the VIX indicator. Not sure if i understand it very well. Since Forex as no volume, is there some equivalent for Forex.

I have seen some codes available for MT, but nothing for EasyLanguage

Any informations appreciated

Hello Martin,

VIX is the symbol for the Chicago Board Options Exchange's volatility index. It is a measure of the level of implied volatility - not historical or statistical volatility - of a wide range of options based on the S&P 500.

You need the VIX symbol for Option Trading, I think it doesn't make sense to use it for Forex.
