Is there any "free" SMS alert?

Postby Spaceant » 01 Oct 2010

Hi Folks,

MC is able to send email alerts. I know that there are some paid methods to convert these email alerts into SMS alerts, like Bulk SMS - http://www.bulksms.co.uk/

I just wonder if anyone is able to convert these email alerts into free SMS alerts.

I have searched in the net knowing that it may be possible to use google's free SMS alert service under google calendar with the possiblility to use its API to do the job: -
https://www.google.com/accounts/Service ... dar/render
http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/da ... guide.html

However, I am not an expert in this area. Could anyone give me an advice if it is possible to convert the MC's email alerts into upcoming "events" (in 30 seconds or 1 min or.... ) of google calendar using its google calendar API? If so, how can it been done?

If this can be done, it wil save a lot of money to let MC automatically send my phone when orders are excuted.

Or, are there other free methods doing the job?

Thanks in advance!

You might want to check out Google Voice. I believe they have a free email-to-SMS feature (along with SMS-to-email) called "Text Forwarding."

You can create a new Google Voice account to get a free forwarding phone number. Then set it up so that any emails to a particular address get forwarded as SMS messages to your phone.
