import ascii data for large number of symbols?

Postby mjm » 19 Oct 2012

Is it possible to import ASCII data from CSV files into QuoteManager for more than one symbol at a time? I would like to import data for a few thousand symbols and I haven't found a way to do this all at once. I have read the wiki articles here:
http://www.multicharts.com/trading-soft ... rting_Data
http://www.multicharts.com/trading-soft ... s_Overview

I tried creating a single CSV file containing multiple symbols and then using QuoteManager / File / Import Data / ASCII. But in order to enable the command I need to select a single symbol in QuoteManager, and I find that the file is correctly parsed but only data for the selected symbol is imported. And QuoteManager does not allow me to select multiple symbols.

Am I missing another import procedure?

Thanks,
Mike

Hello MJM,

Unfortunately if we are talking exactly about import, it is not possible. However, you can use ASCII Mapping feature to get this all plotted, but the data will not be saved into your MultiCharts database.

Thanks, Andrew. I will experiment with ASCII mapping.
