ETF's as a seperate instrument?

Postby STAR_Trader » 19 Sep 2012

Hi,

Is it possible to show ETF's as a separate instrument? They are after all a hybrid between a stock and a mutual fund (kind of)...

I know ETF's are shown within stocks tab (when adding a new symbol such as SPY) but I just wondered if it's possible for ETF's to have their own tab within the instruments lists.

Does my request make sense?

With thanks

Yep, I had the same problem recently. What I did was create a new exchange called ETFs and then added the instruments as stocks and assigned them to the ETFs exchange. So now I can see them separately in the Quote Manager and also when inserting a new symbol.

Hope this helps.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your idea...

If there are more of us out there who would like the same ETF instrument feature, maybe MC will consider adding it in a future update :)

Hello STAR_Trader and Petermcphee,

Do you receive ETF data from Interactive Brokers?

If yes then please add an ETF and a stock into your TWS. Then call "contract description" window by double clicking on the instrument. Please attach screenshots of instrument description for both instruments.

Hi Henry,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I get all my data from eSignal.

Thanks

Scott
