Help needed on "Encapsulation Tool" [SOLVED]

Hi there

I am looking for a graphics tool that shows the higher time frame action/range plotted as a box on the lower time frame. Please have a look at the picture attached, showing how (for instance) a 5min bar range is plotted as a box on a 1min chart.

I believe a similar tool (called "Encapsulation" in FibonacciTrader) existed for TS, but for End-Of-Day only, while I am looking for intraday as well.

I know it is just a different style of plotting the range of the higher time frame on the lower one, but I feel that visually it shows better at any time at what stage you are during the construction of the larger time frame.

Hello magcf,

There is no such prebuilt tool in MultiCharts .NET.
It can be created with the help of IChartCustomDrawer

I have tried to look into this but it's beyond my abilities, I am not really good at programming.

I really hope one day a "box" aka "hi-lo" bar chart style (where you can plot a higher time frame action on the lower time frame that makes it, like shown in my opening post's attachment) will be available as standard, that will make me a happy bunny...

I did, as you suggested.

The thread ended up in the wrong category, and in the attempt to modify it, it got duplicated. Now it seems I cannot delete the first version. Very sorry about that.

If you can, please delete MC 1507 and leave MC 1508.

Hi magcf,

I am not a skilled programmer either, I have added couple of things to the built in indicator to make it look like boxes. It only works for lower than Daily resolution. It's not much but maybe it will be useful.
