TWS build 924.3a breaks MC

Postby janus » 10 Apr 2012

Just upgraded TWS from 922.6 to 924.3a. Order management in MC no longer works properly. I tried this on MC 4.7 build 5032 and 8.0 Beta 2.0 (on two separate PCs). I then went to the previous release of TWS 923.9a that was available for download at IB's site. Both MC builds work fine again.

I thought MC support obtains new releases of TWS much earlier than the general public to get a chance to test it?

I'm running 924.2e (Mar 20 release) and it runs fine.. I haven't tried the latest release but they are frequently causing problems with MC...
I just stick with the latest version that doesn't cause problems..

The issue with TWS version 924.3a is confirmed. We are working on it already.
At the moment we recommend to roll back to the previous TWS version.

That's good. Will it be just a hot fix for just MC 8.0 beta 2, or will there be one for 7.4 as well?

Henry,

is it possible to make a sticky here at the top of the forum and in the wiki
which versions are tested /recommended, like:

Interactive - TWS 924.2e Mar 20
IQfeed - IQFeed Client 4.8.1.7
esignal - Build 11.4.2638, Mar 27, 2012
TT - X_TRADER 7.11

and so on

Also, I'm puzzled as to how this could happen. It has to be one of two reasons.

1. IB must have made a significant change to TWS api's to make this happen.
2. MC always had a problem with the way it was using the api's, and it only ever surfaced now due to some race condition or something like it becoming more apparent.

janus,

Indeed IB have made a change in how they return account information. Financial Advisor accounts attribute is now used for all accounts. The issue is fixed, please find the hot fix here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10253

That's impressive - within a day a hot fix. Thanks Dave & MC support. :)

Funny thing is that one of your competitors still only officially supports TWS 921, which got released in November 2011. So also a thanks for not saying "we don't officially support it yet" but 'just' fixing it. :)

We are doing our best to support the latest versions of the supported datafeed/broker software.

IB - TWS 924.2e Mar 20. Supported now. Hotfix here.
IQfeed - IQFeed Client 4.8.1.7 - supported
eSignal - Build 11.4.2638, Mar 27, 2012 - quote from eSignal download page "If you use third-party software (which is MultiCharts) or the eSignal Desktop API in addition to eSignal, it is required that you install version 10.6 of the eSignal application. You may also install version 11 of the eSignal application, but version 10.6 should be present to ensure the third-party software and / or the Desktop API continues to operate properly".
TT - X_TRADER 7.11 - is not required for using TT with MC.
