TSE's JGB Futures loading problem using Interactive Brokers

Postby macrotrader » 05 Jul 2012

Guys, I have an issue loading TSE's JGB futures (e.g. Sep 2012) to MC. All I get is a blank screen. I have attached a screen shot of the Symbol Dictionary.

I have no issues with other symbols. Thanks for a quick response.

Hello Macrotrader,

Are you unable to add the instrument or plot the chart for it ?
Is it possible to plot the chart for this instrument in IB TWS ?

Hi Henry, thanks for your reply. I could add the instrument in MC, just unable to plot it.

In IB, I could plot the chart. It's been attached here.

What are the error messages in QuoteManager event log when you are plotting this chart (File->New->QuoteManager window)?

Henry,

It says "No security definition has been found: Symbol = 16790001; Trade;TSE;FUT;JPY;"

Guys, I think I know what's wrong but would need MultiCharts help to correct it.

The JGB is listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE.JPN), but after correctly adding the symbol, the wrong exchange code of TSE (Toronto Stock Exchange) showed up on Quote Manager. This discrepancy probably caused MC to look for JGB at the wrong exchange at the IB database.

I have attached two screen-shots showing the difference.

Macrotrader, you need to delete the instruments added under TSE exchange.
Then add TSEJ exchange in QuoteManager->Tools->Exchanges and ECNs.
Then add the symbols from the data source (Quote manager->Instrument tab->Add symbol->From data source-> IB).

Henry, this didn't work. I followed your steps, but the problem is once I add symbol from IB, the JGB contracts get automatically sent to the TSE folder in Quote Manager, and not TSE.JPN nor TSE.J.

Thanks for your help so far.

My bad. It was important to differentiate TSE.Japan & TSE.J, something I didn't realize. Many thanks for your help Henry.
