Algorithm-specific Properties Ascending vs Descending

Hi,

I have looked on the forum and can't find the answer to what is probably a very basic question:

does selecting ascending vs descending order in the GA properties tab effect the way the algorithm evolves through the optimisation space?

Or, is this just for displaying the results?

If it does effect the evoltuion process then how? E.g. If the fitness function of net profit is chosen along with ascending. Does this mean it will evolve towards inputs with a higher net profit??

Ascending and Descending options are to sort the output in ascending or descending order, respectively.
