OpenTick Feed

Postby widgetman » 17 Nov 2006

Hi,
I was wondering what the latest is on using Opentick as a feed for MC. I currently use IB, but loading charts seems to be intermittent with IB as a feed and extremely slooowwwwww. Any suggestion as alternatives would be appreciated.
-Thanks

Opentick works, but not without its share of problems, just worked on such a case that we had to forward to OpenTick's support - could not resolve the problem here.
As usual, the alternative would be getting a commercial data source.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the quick response. Any idea why it takes so long to load data from IB using Multicharts ? I can load 10 days of tick data with NT on their chart which uses IB as a feed in about 30 seconds. Is it a DLL Interface issue to IB ?

Please check your version of IB and the IB datafeed in QuoteManager->Tools->Data sources.

If the datafeed version is not up-to-date, slow data downloading is likely.

.92.92 should be functional, AFAIK no later version has been released to the public

Hi,
Is MC still working with Opentick as a alternate datafeed to IB. I have tried for days now to get Opentick to load a chart. I get connected ok messages and can even get it to show me a symbol list once in a while, but I have never seen a chart load. Do you have to pay for a feed first ? It states that for euro currencies the data for history should be available if you register. The symbol for the euro is /6EZ6. Has anyone else been successful at getting euro data to load ? Any help or comments would be appreciated.
-Thanks

I have the same problem and have given up,although in fairness help desk have asked me to make contact
Need an account opened with OT and login and password setup, obviously connected to their site, and money in the account/payment arrangement for exchange fees if you want to receive live tick data.
I found out that one could get delayed data at no cost, but the Quote Manager/Data sources/otFeed/settings/server Port should be 10015, if delayed data is taken, not the live feed port no which I have forgot(Ithink 10010 for live data)

Need to be sure you have the correct symbol and exchanges set up properly Difficult to find the correct symbols...what is Dow futures,or SP500 future symbols

Thats my take on the theory, but it does not work MC version 1.90.644.1126...such a pity
Regards
Milton

Can you please send us the QuoteManager logs that are shown when you try to request a symbol from OpenTick?

Please remove 10010 if it's in the list, leave only 10015

Hi Alex,
Posted is the log for trying to get data from Opentick. I deleted port 10010 and added 10015. It did not seem to matter. This is so frustrating trying to get all of this to work together :)

I suggest you to go to the OpenTick website to check if you're getting a connection at all.
The log posted here shows there was no "connection established" state; please visit
http://www.opentick.com/index.php?app=c ... u=products
and try the download sample Quoteboard Historical CSV

This will help you check if you're receiving data fromOpentick at all.
