Feature Suggest: Grid Optimization

Postby glam_100 » 17 Jul 2007

Please consider adding Grid optimization feature.

The idea is to install Multi Chart on a lot of machines, and have the "host" to dispatch chunks of optimization work to each "node"...

This is a good way to utilize the low cost commodity multi core CPUs of today like the Core 2 Duo/Quad on commodity PC boards instead of buying high cost Xeon CPUs with multi socket boards from tyan or super micro.

I'm sure this is a very good way to sell a lot more copies of Multi Chart . I will buy 10 sets myself :D

Check out your competitor NeoTicker, they have this Grid optimization feature which is brilliant.

Good suggestion. It is a powerful feature, but it is not easy to implement it.
We will add it to wish-list.

Hi Andrew,

Please consider optimization speed as a high priority.

I would say optimization speed improvement is the No.1 incentive for existing TS customers to switch to MC... I myself is eagerly waiting for the next MC release that would speed me up 4X with a 4 core machine (after you fix the core per core speed problem)...

Basically a lot of TS users are pissed by having to wait forever for optimization. A lot of research time is spent waiting...

I'm sure a lot of TS users will flock to Multi Chart when they can save time by a factor of 4 (when using quad core machines) and simply couldn't resist when they can use grid and save time by a factor of 40X with 10 quad core machines!!! Computers today are cheap and many users have at least 2 or 3 computers for trading research...

Aything that speeds up optimization is a go...

Cheers

Would the new beta build incorporate the per core slow down fix?
