Multicharts slow after update

Postby Kaos » 01 Nov 2007

Hi there,

I just updated my Dad's Multicharts from 2.1.909.909 beta to 2.1.999.999.

Multicharts is running very slow since the update today. This morning Multicharts was running very happy but it's very slow since I upgraded it.

The computer has Duo T2050 CPU with 1gig of ram, no other programs running

He is not a "power user" (defined in the system requirements webpage) as he only has 5 charts in the workspace with only 2 indicators on each chart - all daily data.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the slow down?

Regards,
Paul

Hello Paul,

What might be interfering with the normal MultiCharts work is antivirus. Do you have any antivirus programs running on your computer?

Regards.

Hi Marina,

Yes I am using Trend Micro Antivirus.

But I was using Trend Micro on both the beta and the new 2.1.999.999

I couldn't fix it so I just restored a full backup of Dad's computer back to ver 2.1.909.909 beta.

Regards,
Paul

Dear Paul,

The situation when an antivirus program interferes with the work of the new MC version while the older one worked fine is quite normal. The version has changed so antivirus checks it (while it obviously wasn't checking the old one) slowing down the program's work.

To have new MultiCharts work normally with your antivirus program you can go to Trend Micro Antivirus settings and set the application in such a way that it won't check the new MultiCharts version.

Regards.
