This message covers a very broad range of errors; MultiCharts could have stopped working for a variety of reasons. Most likely something in your computer is corrupted.

Please try uninstall your MultiCharts. Please backup your data first, so that you can delete all when uninstalling.

Make sure you reboot your computer before installing again.

ps. make sure you are upgrading to the correct bit version. (ie 32 bit to 32 bit)

if you are upgrading from 32 bit to 64 bit, please read this first:

I am staying at 32bit per my OS

I performed this next series of attempts:
- Uninstalled and checked for a clean uninstall
- found remnants, so cleaned out folders in AppData, ProgramFiles
- shutdown / started and went to Multicharts to get new download
- installed caused cc1plus.exe error at Studies, but occurred only once, this time
- Control Panel to perform Repair still got cc1plus.exe error
- Uninstalled Multicharts and cleared folders
- Uninstalled .NET version 1.1 and refreshed version 3.5
- shutdown / started and used previous Multicharts installer exe from latest download
- turned on process tracking tool while installing
cc1plus.exe error screen appeared and let me get this data from that tool
cc1plus.exe "c:\windows\system32\SearchFilterHost.exe" 0 632 636 644 65536 640
g++.exe -oo -w -c -formit-frame-pointer -fno-enforce-eh-specs -fno-rtti -DBUIL...
called from parent msciexec.exe

It has taken 5 days to resolve why the cc1plus.exe error.

Conflict with a ZoneAlarm dll proved to be the problem - great tech support by M-C personnel. Specifically identified-C:\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZAForceField\Plugins\ISWSHEX.dll

The perseverance by Henry of TS Support Chat and the engineer(s) in the background is deeply appreciated.

NB: In contacting ZoneAlarm - Application permissions can be controlled by the user. Within that area MultiCharts can be Custom set to 'Super Trusted' and so can cc1plus.exe This resulted in MultiCharts running whilst ZA was in force. I compiled a couple of user strategies without problem.
