Quote manager symbol list

Postby dougb » 13 Oct 2013

Does anyone know of a way to create a symbol list that can be imported into the Quote Manager with large numbers of stocks ? For example all stocks from the NYSE, Nasdaq and AMEX that are above say $5 with more than 10,000 average volume. When using the stock scanner found in Yahoo it provides an excel export function with rows of comma separated text in the form of : ABC, Company ABC, [close], [time], [volume], and other stuff. The Quote Manager only wants each row to contain : ABC, Company ABC, Exchange, Stocks. There are text functions to help but nothing I have found yet provides a very clean way to do this. Thought someone might know of such a list or an efficient way to make one.

Hello dougb,

You can delete extra columns that are not required for Import Symbol list in MS Excel.

Yes, thank you.

I figured out how to properly export large lists of stocks from Yahoo advanced screener and import them into MC. The key is to get them in column format and not comma separated. Then import just the symbol and name. If you export three batches, one each for AMEX, NYSE and Nasdaq you can then add the exchange and stocks catagory within the Quote manager for each group.
