Add Option to Quotemanager

Postby wegi » 14 Feb 2014

Hi,

i tried to add an option for the ESTX50 (eurstoxx 50) in the quotemanger for the datasource interactive brokers.
i added from datasource -> option and i tried several combinations of root symbol, etc.
But nothing found.
In the TWS i found the needed option for estx, mar2014, strike 3000

What are the correct entries?

Thank you.

Hello wegi,

Have you selected the category "Index Options" in QuoteManager -> Instrument tab->Add symbol->From data source-> IB->Options?

wegi, please attach the screenshot of the Contract Description window from TWS for the instrument you are unable to add (right click on the symbol in TWS->Contract info->Description).

Hello Henry,

here is my screenshot.
As you can see, i tried different symbols, but i always get the error: no security definition...
For the example in the screenshot i received the error: symbol list lookup timeout.

In the TWS i enter ESTX50 in a new line. Then Option -> MAR -> 2014 in the next Window the Strike 3000.

I have the the price history in the tws, i can draw a chart for this option. Means i have the trading privilege for options.

Thx!

I can confirm that this also happens with MC .NET64 8.8 (8365).

There seems to be an issue with the DTB exchange, since if this exchange is not specified, it 'works' (but then it fails to pull DTB options from IB):

Hello Henry,

it works, thank you!

But some improvements:
1) With this settings, i receive about 2950 Options. Hard to find the one i need.
Some more Filter would be good: Strike, Expiry.

2) It would be good to have an "Option" Tab in Multicharts within the dialog new-> Chart Window, Tab Instrument.

Thx.

Hi There,

I am also trying to auto trade options using Multicharts. I have been trading options for years using simple spreads. So I want to load several options into my Multicharts chart window. I picked the (in this case futures options) in the QuoteManager from IB data source. But I get No Data for most of them. Some of them connect. But in Interactive Brokers' TWS I can see the options clearly available.

How come I'm getting 'No Data' in Multicharts when I can see these options in TWS?

Thanks!

BTW My Multicharts is MultiCharts64 Version 14.0 Release (Build 24673)

Just tried this again with a more heavily traded ticker NQ, with a nearer expiry. Similar thing. Most of these options have data but some don't - I have highlighted those with no data. These are all near the money options.
