Manual free up memory, Portfolio Trader

Postby algosmart » 08 Oct 2014

Is there a way to free up memory after a couple run of portfolio backtests?

I played around with the PT since it's been released. Everything looks wonderful except that, after a couple run, all the data will cache in my phy memory and it is therefore making my pc slow down. I understand that PT is memory intensive, but it would be nicer if we can manually clean it up so we can re-initiate another backtest. Otherwise, I have to restart PT to get rid of cache.

Please advise,

Loy

Hello algosmart,

If you go to File -> New Portfolio to open a new empty portfolio workspace, it should release most of the RAM that was occupied by MCPortfolio.exe.

Thanks, I'll try that. But since I am a lifetime owner of MC, I'd like to request for a performance improvement adding this new feature that could manually release memory, or better way would be automatically free up memory after backtest/optimization is finished.

Open a new portfolio isn't the most intuitive way from User experience.

Thank you.
