slow backfill CQG

Postby O66 » 27 Aug 2015

hi, im using 9.1 beta 2 11614 with CQG data.
when i start MC it takes a very long time (30 minutes and counting...) to fill my charts
in quote manager i see that the connection is ok and data is comming in
screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/ROfx2yN2N

also do i need to select external historical data or not?
is data stored locally when i selecty this? or is this for backfilling from external cqg servers?

Hello O66,

Once data is downloaded from the data feed server and plotted on the chart - it is stored in the cache. When you close MultiCharts, QuoteManager and Portfolio Trader - cached data is saved to the local database. You do not need to manually save any data, it is done automatically. Next time you plot a chart - the data is loaded from the cache or data base first, then missing historical data and realtime data are requested from the data provider. For more information please see this page:
https://www.multicharts.com/trading-sof ... s_Database

When you have "External historical data" disabled you can get more historical data from CQG.

Tx Henry,

Since data is stored locally the charts must be there in a second, correct?
any ideas why it can take a long time to build all the charts even when i had mc running 10 minutes before?

Hello O66,

If you already have data stored in the data base then it will take less time to decompress it and load on charts compared to requesting it from the data provider. If you can see data requests in the Event Log of QuoteManager then some data is being loaded from the data provider, which is expected for missing data (while MultiCharts was not running) and for realtime data that is not being saved to the database. Loading data from the local database is not being displayed in the QuoteManager Event Log.

For more information please see Collecting_and_Saving_Data_to_MultiCharts_Database.
