Critical size of database

Postby bensat » 14 Feb 2017

What is the critical size of the database please ? my db is 7Gb+ in size and I experience more & more data issues as data are not saved or when I load a new chart all data back for the day are gone and I can see the actual bar only etc etc ....

Thank you.

Regards

Ben

Hello bensat,

Critical database size is determined by your OS capabilities.
In this case, we recommend to do the following:
1. Clear the cache for all the symbols in QuoteManager (QuoteManager -> Click one the symbol -> Ctrl+A -> Right-click on any symbol -> Clear cache)
2. Run the gback file to reduce database size: https://www.multicharts.com/trading-sof ... abase_Size
Please make sure to do a backup of the database folder before running gback.

Critical database size is determined by your OS capabilities.
I'm running WS2012R2. Reducing the size of the db doesn't work on my end here as the db always crashes and I have to use the backup afterwards. I export all data & symbols every 4-6 weeks and re-import it back into a new db. But it saves 100-180MB on size only. Since the size of the db went beyond 7.5G+ problems started.

Ty + regards

Ben
