10-years IB futures symbol cycle

Postby Meecc » 23 Jun 2019

Given IB futures symbol repeat itself in every 10-year cycle,
eg. CLF0 for 2010 will be used for year 2020 as well.

Will the new 2020 contract be added to the same symbol in MC database?
Will old value in 2010 be auto deleted?
Do we have to do kind of export old 2010-section data?

Or is it that
nothing need to be done, all will be handled gracefully
as the data is kept separately in different date section under the same symbol?

Please make confirmation advise.

Hello, Meecc!

You need to rename the existing symbols to a 2-digits or 4-digits year format. If you have, e.g. ESU0 that used to be ES September in 2010, you need to rename it to ESU10 or ESU2010 in QuoteManager.

Hello,
By changing name, is the following the right and "ONLY" place needed to be changed ?
ie via quote manager,
edit symbol as shown and then change name to some other name.

I assume having done above
new contracts will replace as the recurring name and

we can have the altered-name-from-old contracts still
live in the database , correct ?

Meecc,

Yes, this is the only place where the symbol can and should be renamed.
