Best Practice for Reducing TSCACHE.GDB size?

Postby eegroup » 19 Feb 2022

What is the recommended or best practice for reducing the size of the TSCACHE.GDB? Currently our TSCACHE.GDB file is well over a half a GB and obviously keeps growing. How do we reduce its size? There is a 'Clear Cache" function in the Quote Manager, but I am not sure that accomplishes the objective. This Clear Cache function seems to be setup to do multiple symbols, but either that does not work, or the data is cleared, but the space is not released from the TSCACHE.GDB file. And running the Gbak utility does nothing for reducing the TSCACHE.GDB file size.

Thanks,

Hello eegroup,

TSCACHE.GDB is used to speed up re-plotting of charts with tick-based resolution. If you use such, it is expected for the TSCACHE.GDB size to increase.

Clear Cache option in QuoteManager does not affect the database size as the data is deleted logically: it is marked as deleted, the cleared space is re-used when required.

GBak Utility does reduce the TSCACHE.GDB size when used according to the instructions.
