Slippage and Commission in % value as well

Postby 2haerim » 04 Sep 2008

Currently, it is only allowed to enter absolute value for slippage and commission. However, when trading futures symbols, it would be more reasonable to set them in percent.

Is this too hard to implement?

Hi HaeRim,

This is a good idea and we will certainly consider it for implementation.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Best regards.

Welcome back, Marina.

This forum certainly has been half-alive without you for the last couple weeks.

And thanks for accepting my suggestion.

I would like to elaborate more on this idea as follows:

The commission in our case is calculated as follows:

Commission Per Trade = BigPointValue x Fill Price * Commission Rate
where, Per Trade means either 1 buy or 1 sell.

Therefore, it is more natural and correct to use % as the commission rather than a fixed amount per trade.

And for Slippage, I would rather like to enter the # of ticks per trade. For example, 0.5 tick or 0.8 tick. Tick value for each symbol is differnet but we can calculate the tick value as follows (and MC definitely knows this):

1 Tick = BigPointValue * MinMove / PriceScale

In summary, I wish I could have additional option to enter slippage in ticks and commission in %.

Hi HaeRim,

We will consider both your suggestions for implementation. I can't promise it will be done in the nearest future, but your suggestions have been added to our wish list.

Regards.

Dear MC-Team,

I do have the same problem and just want to ask what is the current situation? Is it possible to define the commission in % and slippage in ticks?

Thanks, regards, Peter

I also have a need for this feature. Interactive Brokers charges me 0.08% per trade with a $6 minimum on the Australian Stock Exchange. This is a MUST for accurate backtesting.

Dear SeanBannister,

This feature has not been implemented yet. You may want to post a feature request in Project Management: https://www.multicharts.com/pm/
