Maximum number of shares/contracts per position

Postby RS » 29 Oct 2008

Hi Marina,

It's a long time ago I had support from you; the last half year I'm running several MC (2.1.999) instances on DEV, TEST and PROD without serious problems. Great!

Because I had to upgrade my Java (1.6.0_10) and TWS (888.3), the IB datafeed from MC 2.1 was not stable anymore. That's the reason I upgraded my DEV machine to MC 4.0.1724.

I ran into several issues. One of them is the following: The Signal property "Maximum shares/contracts per position" was grayed out in version 2.1. In version 4.0 it's necessary to fill in this maximum position. But... the maximum position size is 1000000 (see attachment)! I'm running Forex strategies which can easily go over that maximum.

Do I have to work with a maximum? If yes, 1000000 is not enough!

Thanks in advance for your reply,
Rob.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for pointing that out. The value will be increased up to 1,000,000,000.

Thank you.

Hi Marina,

Thanks for your answer. Do I get an update/patch? I don't want to go to a beta version (5.x) to solve this problem because a beta is to risky for me to run in production.

Thanks again,
Rob.

Hi RS,

The current beta allows entering 100,000,000 in the "Maximum number of shares/contracts per position" field. To be able to enter this value in your strategy properties you would need to either use the beta version or wait till the new release is out.

Regards.

Hi Marina,

Thanks! As you know, I will stay for the time being on release 2.1. It's the best one for me right now.

When the new version is out I will test it.

Regards,
Rob.
