Daily Close different Hourly Close

Postby nuno-online » 30 Jul 2009

I have a workspace where i have 2 charts (daily & hourly)
I noticed that at the end of session, i have Daily Close different Hourly Close
(Symbol AC - SBF :Daily Close = 28.92 - Hourly Close = 28.99)
Here the screenshot

Can someone tell me why?

this was explained before, but I cannot find the thread.
Maybe TSSupport can add this to the Knowledge Base FAQ.

Basically it has to do with the way exchanges post their CLOSING PRICE.
Sometimes the LAST TRADE is NOT the same as the OFFICIAL closing price.

also, you should :
-- check the symbol property to make sure it uses the official trading session time.
-- check the chart to make sure the trading session is not set to 24hrs.

Ok TJ

Is there a solution to have the same closing price in all charts (here daily chart and hourly chart)?

--I checked the symbol property to make sure it uses the official trading session time.
--I checked the chart to make sure the trading session is not set to 24hrs

all is ok

I think it has to do with the delayed posting of the official close.

The exchange posts the official close up to 15 mins after the market is closed.

The intraday bar can only use the last trade as the close of the bar.

The daily bar can capture the official close, even if it is late.

I don't remember if there is a solution.

That's pretty much it TJ. The close on a daily bar will show the settlement price and on an intraday chart the close of each bar will be the last trade of that bar for whatever resolution. The last trade of the day is rarely the same as the settlement value and the close on the last intraday bar is not supposed to represent the settlement price.

We tried it and it is the same. Make sure you have the same sessions in MC and TWS. Please set the same sessions as you have in TWS-> ContractInfo->Details
