slow historical downloading

Postby quark » 08 Sep 2009

Hi

How can I accelerate the downloading time of historical data?
It's almost ten times slower than other softwares I've used.
The problem is not my provider (IB or TS) nor my connection.

Dear quark,

Could you provide more details on your situation?

I'm pretty sure that something is going wrong.

Download the required data to the QuoteManager and plot the charts in offline mode. Then tell us what software will do it ten times quicker.

Whenever I connect MC to IB or to TS data provider it takes a long, really long time to download the data.
Using the same computer with TS, Visual Chart or some other platforms it's much faster.
Another issue is that I have to reload the data from the Internet everytime I restart MC. It doesn't reuse it locally.
If I try to save it as an ASCII file it's a little bit faster but it doesn't work well. The strategies are not executed properly if the data source is an ASCII file.

Update: The strategy is executed properly but the statistics are completly wrong when I use comission or slippage. I don't have that problem when receiving data directly from ther Internet.
