How fast does your CPU run?

Postby arnie » 14 Sep 2009

Hi

I'd like to know how fast can a CPU run under MC.

I've a 3 Ghz Pentium 4, with a 3Ghz of ram, 4 monitors and windows XP professional.

With 5 workspaces (latest MC 5.5 version), 34 charts, and TWS opened, my CPU runs on average at 35%.

Is this normal?

Only a few days ago I noticed how high my CPU runs, and If I add to MC and TWS, MS Outlook, IE, MS Excel or other software, it can go above 60%.

CPU temperature runs around 52 degrees celcius.

Regards
Fernando

With XP is this normal, on Windows 7 x64 the cpu usage will be under 5%.
Self tested.

PS: tested with CPU Q6600 or i7 920

you are considered a power user !

CPU usage depends on:
resolution of the data, (eg. tick charts are more CPU hungry than minute charts)
volume of trades, (if you are underpowered, you will see MC play catch up during FOMC announcements)
number of charts,
number of indicators,
the complexity of your indicators, (some of my indicators are 10,000 lines long, they are hungry)
number of drawing objects. (drawing object use more power than plots).
