open 2 Multicharts in a computer with different socket port

Postby alexcaicn » 14 Apr 2010

i am using MC + IB

I know i could open 2 TWS in one computer, and open 2 MC too.

may i chage the socket in TWS and MC, so that one MC connecting to 1 TWS, and another MC connecting another TWS?

even i know it may not make sense to do it, but just curious to know.

like one for the live TWS account, one for demo TWS account.

thanks.

hi alexcaicn

Yes this is normal, sometime we use different instance of TWS on different computer. Each TWS is working on different product (stock).

Then one MC, or multiple MC (depending on the number of licences) can work with the different TWS.

All this depend on the scale you are working on, for a company this is natural to have multiple instance of TWS, and MC.

thanks for your quick reply.

i have only one MC license. let me show you what i did.

i opened 2 tws with different accounts. preset tws1: 127.0.0.1:4796; tws2: 127.0.0.1:4100

then started MC twice, but they started the only one quote manger, which you could config only one port!

then it seemed it is impossible for 2MC to 2 TWS

am i wrong?

Right - to the best of my awareness in current MultiCharts you would be limited by the fact that the instances share the same configuration settings. That's why the poster above referenced using different computers in this case. To do that though, you would need a MultiCharts license for each computer.
