It would save me lot of time if there was a default check box for the trade automation settings. That would hold in place the broker, account number, trading timeframe etc.

I agree!
My workaround for this:
Open a Chart with your default settings (account number, broker, ...). Save this Charts ("default chart") as a new workspace ("My Settings"). This Charts in this workspaceare not for live-strategys.
Now, if you want a live-Chart, open default chart and press File => Copy Windows (CRTL+Shift+C) and clone your default chart to a new workspace.
Now you have a new window with YOUR default settings
