About ASCII importing and mapping issue

Postby johnmok » 06 Dec 2011

I' ve got 60 csv file of the same symbol

The symbol is a futures which means a total of 60 months data.

No matter I use importing or mapping function. Both doesn't work.

When using The importing function, I imported the 60 files, and find that only the data of the first month could be shown.

(ps. I need the multi file importing function, it's really not user friendly...)

When using the mapping function, situation worsen, after the mapping process

Only one month of data show up....

Please help, thanks a lot

Please, provide some details. How did you add the instrument? What is the name of it? What type of data do you have in files? Was you import successful for all of 60 files?

thanks for your response!

i add the symbol in quote manager,

instrument -> add symbol -> manually

with the setting of

data source = ASCII mapping
symbol = HSI
category = Futures
exchange = HKFE

after create the symbol, i left click on the symbol, and use ctrl-i to import my 60 csv files seperately

i import for 60 times as there are 60 files, and all files have been imported successfully.

after that, i open new chart in MC and try to open the 60 months data,

and MC can only show data of 1 year only

as i want to figure out the problem, i import the 60 files the second time,

this time, i reload the chart once a csv file have been imported, and everything looks fine.

the chart show 5 year data correctly, so i reload the chart to confirm it, frustrating thing comes.

the 5 year chart no longer exist.... it turns to a 1 year chart again....

the tick data file consist of 6 type of data, as follow respectively...

symbol -- date -- time -- price -- volume -- transaction type
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 18 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 16 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 8 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 1 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 1 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 10 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 1 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 4 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 7 020
HSI 20061003 094401 17497 1 020

the transaction type is for personal reference only, and i leave it as undefined when i go through the import process.

all 60 files imported successfully without error

some more info about my import problem, i test one more time, try to import the data one by one,

and find that it crop out the data in a way that it just crop out the old data, and can only keep the newest 12 month data, so after i import the 60 files, only the newest 12 month(i.e.12 files) data can be kept in the database.

hope there would be some advise for me, thanks a lot!

Could you give examples of some (better all) of your first and last lines from your 60 files?

Example:

File1:
01.01.11 1234 1234 1234 1234 100 ...
31.01.11 4321 4321 4321 4321 200 ...
File2:
...

sure, file sent, thanks!

before investigating my case, let me show you more info about the issue.

i try to important data from Oct, 2006 to Mar, 2009, and the cropping data problem appear once,

and i do some more testing on it, i find that the data could be shown completely and flawless

with 5 min chart.

but for daily chart, weekly chart and monthly chart, various cropping problem appear, photo shown as follow...

Daily Chart
Image

you can see that only data from Mar, 2008 - Mar, 2009 can be shown, which is one year of the latest data.

Weekly Chart
Image

for weekly chart, the data cropped in a strange way...
the first bar is the week of 17/8/2007, the second bar is week of 21/3/2008,
the third bar is week of 4/7/2008, after that, its data from Aug, 2008 to Mar, 2009

Monthly Chart
Image

the first bar is Aug, 2007, after that, it's data from Feb, 2008 to Mar, 2009
the data just mess up in a strange way....
