Description

The MC wiki page http://www.multicharts.com/trading-software/index.php/Custom_Futures already tells that there exist limitations for custom futures. As most brokers do not offer continuous futures contracts, the only way to display a chart of more historical data than some months for a futures contract is that the MC user constructs a custom futures contract. Therefore it is very essential to have feature rich custom futures and they are also essential for backtesting strategies. So why sitill exist limitation for custom futures?
 
NinjaTrader does a better job in that case. They offer the automatic generation of continuous contracts out of futures contracts. The user has not to do anything to get a chart of such a continuous contract. NinjaTrader is intelligent enough to do it all in the background without demanding the user to construct such a contract, or to do anything else. There do also not exist any limitations on charting or backtesting such continous contracts.
 
MC engineers please do a better job concerning custom futures. I am particularly interesting in charting weekly/monthly charts, and charts with more than one day per bars (2, 3, 4, ... days per bar). It would also be good not to be restricted to the regular chart type. Moreover I got the impression that custom futures are not constructed very fast. Displaying a daily chart of a custom futures contract can take some seconds even if all data is already stored in the database and though I use a Intel Core i7-2600 with 3.4 GHz on a x64 operating system.
 

Steps to reproduce this issue

Use Multicharts 8.0.5622.401 on Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64.

We should be able to display weekly chart for Custom Futures.

I for one and many others are having to use multiple platforms as you do not have this feature. Esignal data does have a continuous futures contract but you do not support the symbols

This is one of two deal-breaking features that is keeping me from switching from NinjaTrader

Non-regular chart types for Custom Futures will be supported since MultiCharts 11.
