Description

The main difference to the standard renko bars is that you could have an offset of the open of the new bar. On standard renkos the open is equal to the close of the prior bar.
The second difference is that you could choose different values for trend continuation and trend reversal (Renko Hybrid, Flex Renko).

I love everything MC has to offer, however, the Renko charting of Ninja Trader 7+ is more practical.
I would appreciate it if MC could provide something compatible with that of Ninja Trader, The Mean Renko Bars, to be exact. It's no rocket science at all. See video below:

With Mean Renko Bars added, MC could be implemented to do a lot of jobs not possible otherwise. And, MC shall gain an unfair advantage over its competition as well.

These are becoming one of the most popular bar types for day traders, most platforms have these now, and would be a good addition to MC.NET ORDER BY 1-- UWbj

Mean Renko, Better Renko and Hybrid Renko or Shifted Renko are the actual standard of most profitable and smart contemporary traders. NinjaTrader and Tradestation have them from time sometimes as native bartype, sometime as simple indicator package for few dollars. Please add these new RENKO bars available in Multicharts as native bars. I would be very very disagree to leave Multicharts for Ninja. Please take care of this feature.

Is the muted cheer due to everyone already having defected to another platform? Or is it because this new functionality hasn't revealed itself as viable? I applaud those who have pushed for so many years to get this implemented. I don't applaud Multicharts for the implementation. There are flaws to this flexrenko feature that might be user error, or might not be user error. So I’d like to confirm. I am not getting the desired results when selecting flexrenko and adding a value to the offset settings. In my case 0.50 is my preference. When applied to S&P e-minis, the data window displays price values ending in decimals such as .12 or .87. S&P e-mini contracts are traded in increments of .25, so how can the closing/opening price of a bar be XXXX.46 or some variation of a fraction? I had this problem with the regular renko feature until I played with the settings and settled on the "fixed price" option when setting the box size, combined with a 1-minute resolution. Low and behold, this flexrenko does not have the “fixed-price” option available to select -- only points and percentage. What? Also, the open and close values are not the full box size value as expected. I’m getting ranges such as .35 that vary per bar when the box size is set to 1 point. Could some light be shed on what the problem is here with this new flexrenko feature? Multicharts is not quite out of the woods with this one, and in fact is exactly where we all began in the quest for a mean renko feature. I hate that I’ve not been able to yet transition from TradeStation, and it’s a drag to keep renting Multicharts anticipating it will be my main platform. Have you seen the pricing from the competition lately?
