Description

It has to be some way to identify that one symbol from different data sources is actually the same symbol. This will allow to use symbols with merged data in the scanner and to link the scanner to the charts. For example, I want to select a row in the scanner and I want to link it to one chart with daily data from Free Quotes and another chart with 1 hour run-time data from Interactive Brokers. Currently it's impossible, because the scanner doesn't know that the SPY from Free Quotes is the same instrument as SPY from IB. I think that creating a unique list of symbols in MultiCharts and mapping them to symbols received from different data providers and brokers will resolve the issue. By default it has to be assumed that the same symbol represents the same instrument. NinjaTrader does it this way and it seems like a good approach to me.
