Description

For every futures portfolio trader, there is a list of 20 or so of basic symbols (and their specific exchanges) that are the bottom of the barrel ... there are:
- currencies
- stock indexes
- Agriculture
- Softs
- Energies
These are not many, they amount to around 20 symbols - but they all are spread across 3-4 exchanges, and they DO have different day sessions / big-point-values / min.movement or chart scales ...

Many times (I'm sure you too) I've been told to delete my symbols & symbol database from Multicharts as a process to "clean"-up or get rid of some weird behavior. Which was fine ... if - upon re-importing these symbols, all the exchange house / big-point-values (etc) would be taken automatically from Tradestation !
Now, don't get me wrong exchanges like CME, ICE, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX are all pre-defined in Multicharts !!! - which means the this is not a feature-request, but a bug.

The import process does not work - all symbols get set on CME ... making any further analysis useless until you manually set all 20 symbols by hand w/ all the proper exchanges and session times ... and big-point-values, etc = which equates to a lot of lost & repetitive lost time !!! For what ... since these exchanges are already pre-defined ?

Attached is how the import process handles the symbols in Quote Manager.

Steps to reproduce this issue

Add symbols from Tradestation data source such as those in attached image in Multicharts and place them in a Portfolio Trader, then save Portfolio Trader.
Go to Symbol MAnager and delete those symbols.
Open again the Portfolio Trader you just saved ... all the symbols will show up on CME exchange under Quote Manager ...

No, I just load a previously saved .pws (portfolio) file which contained the symbols.

We analyzed the described behavior and it works as expected, as symbol settings are not saved in the workspace. That is why whey are added this way, using the simple algorithm.
In your case we can recommend to save the symbol settings via exporting the instruments into .qmd file and then restore them from it.
What you requested is considered as a feature request and was modified accordingly.
