Description

In ASCII mapping the redifine(i.e. setting a field from downticks to openinterest) should only account for one file, the one that is opened when redifining.
But, after redifining the first file, those settings also are set for further files.
Or, first file nothing was redifined, second file downticks to openinterest, suddenly the first file also has those settings.

Only if files from different folders are used, the redefine can be set differently, but also this setting accounts for all files within that second folder.

Is it intendet, that for individuall redefinition of fields, the files for every setting need to be in seperate folders?

Hello Chris,

That’s designed behaviour, it was implemented for users’ convenience while mapping files with the same structure: the changes are applied to all the files in the specified directory with the same resolution as the original file. If you’re using files with different structures, we’d recommend placing them into separate folders.

Changes:

Ok, thanks for clarifing. I didnt understand the documention that way, I thought I still could do individuall changes.

"The program will automatically apply the edited template for all files with the same structure, so the user does not have to edit every file manually."

I would find it Helpfull, if the note: "Make shure all the fields of the selected file have been properly detected or redefine them according to their contect" would be extendet with somethin like "All redefinitions effect all files within the same folder" Also for the Documentation: "For different templates please use a seperate folder for each template"

Thank you for pointing that out, Chris! We've edited our Mapping ASCII Wiki to make it more clear.
