Description

I have the following recommendations for the Performance Report:
1) Be able to copy text directly from the report by selecting the text in question, and then doing a standard "copy and paste" operation into another application;
2) Be able to save each page separately instead of having to write the entire report to a single file;
3) Be able to save a performance summary (not the same as the full report, but including much of the quantitative data but not the charts) to a .csv file.
For those people who would prefer not to shell out $300-$500 for Microsoft Excel, these features would be very helpful.
Thanks!

Steps to reproduce this issue

The days of Microsoft Excel as a standard are past. Open Office is as good or better and free.
If we could save the file as an .xls then Open Office would be able to open it. As it is you need MS excel to open in order to save the performance file.

What's interesting, too, is that different versions of Microsoft Excel nowadays don't come with the "Excel.exe" application file. For example, Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition doesn't have an Excel.exe file, although it has a scaled down version of Excel in it. From what I've read online, other "home" versions of Excel 2010 don't have a version of Excel.exe in it either.
This is why I think it would be helpful if MultiCharts could export the numerical data into a .csv file with a basic format. This would allow people to use a range of programs to work with this data.

My recommendations:
1. Option should be provided to the user to choose which pages of the performance report he wants to save, instead of the whole report. This will considerably speed up the export process.
2. Option to export a built-in performance summary would be great (as FuryTrader suggested). I would just love to see a single equity chart in this summary report though.
3. 'Best approach' would be - if users can select "specific data points of a performance report" (could be 50 data points or 100 data points or 120 data points or more depending upon user) and save them as different templates. These templates should be exportable to xls or csv. This will give complete flexibility to users and let them export only those numbers that they find most useful for their work.
Thanks!

What format should be used for export?

I would suggest to use LibreOffice as the "legitimate successor" of OpenOffice. LibreOffice Calc format would be perfekt. Everyone can donwload the office suite for free. And it is opensource. the development speed ist faster than OpenOffice. Afaik core developers moved to LibreOffice.

By the way, LibreOffice supports following language for macros: LibreOffice Basic, Python, BeanShell, JavaScript.

You guys are great! Thanks for putting this request to "In progress". The only reason why I still have Excel installed at my home computer is Multicharts.

What is preferable?
1. Export to Open Office
1. Export to HTML
The more comments, the better.

OpenOffice is muched prefered, (If you don't consider LibreOffice).
Reasons:
1. It is Opensource and free
2. With OpenOffice office, we can directly edit the performance report and easily do addtional analysis. With HTML it is static, no further calculations possible.

We work with financial data, whats why to store data in a html format does not make any sense.
We need OpenOffice and/or LibreOffice

Again, I would include the ability to export performance data across a range of formats, including CSV as well as XML - I would not bind or obligate users to use something like LibreOffice or OpenOffice only.

I have uploaded a screenshot demonstrating that the formats are available in latest MC 8.8. Please make sure you have MC 8.8.

Export performance report to XML does not seem to be available in Portfolio Trader (v9 beta 2). Is that something that can be added?

FastLane,
We have just checked: it works ok in MC 9.0 beta 2.
