Description

I typically have charts with two instruments. I will sometimes want to change the instruments from "Time Zone: Exchange" to "Time Zone: Local."

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the time zones when there is more than one instrument on the chart. If you select the "Format Instruments" dialog box and then attempt to change the time zone of one instrument in a multi-instrument chart, you will immediately receive an error message: "Instruments from different time zones cannot be mixed. Please select local Time Zone for all instruments."

However, it is not possible to "select local Time Zone for all instruments" because you can only change one instrument at a time. I.e., you cannot change the time zone of either instrument, since the Format Instruments dialog box will give this error message immediately (before you have a chance to change the second instrument's time zone).

Consequently, the only way to change the time zones on a multi-instrument chart is to delete the extra instruments so that there is only one instrument on the chart, change the time zone for that one instrument, and then add the additional instruments again. This is annoying.

It would be better if MultiCharts let you to change the time zones of every instrument in the Format Instruments dialog box before giving the error message, "Instruments from different time zones cannot be mixed. Please select local Time Zone for all instruments." I.e., it shouldn't check for inconsistent time zones after you change the time zone for a single instrument. Instead, it should wait until you click "OK" to dismiss the Format Instruments dialog box before performing this validation logic.

Steps to reproduce this issue
  1. Create a chart.
  2. Add two instruments to the chart, both set to "Time Zone: Exchange."
  3. Select "Format Instruments."
  4. Select the first instrument in the Format Instruments dialog box, and select "Format..."
  5. Change the time zone to "Time Zone: Local," and click "OK."

You will immediately receive the error message: "Instruments from different time zones cannot be mixed. Please select local Time Zone for all instruments."

The same thing occurs if you try to change the time zone for Instrument 2. As a result, there's no way to change the time zone for both instruments. The only way to change the time zone is to delete one of the instruments, change the time zone for the one remaining instrument, and then add the second instrument to the chart again.
