Description

There seems to be a new bug with the Strategy Optimization Report in the 8.0 beta 2.

In earlier versions of MultiCharts (including 8.0 beta 1), the Strategy Optimization Report would automatically be sorted after performing an optmization. I.e., if you selected "optimize..." for a strategy, selected your inputs, and waited for the results, MultiCharts would display the Strategy Optimization Report, and the results would be sorted by default according to the selected "sort by" factor (i.e., by "Net Profit" by default).

Now, if you run an optimization, the results are not sorted. To sort them, the user has to manually select the "sort by" value.

This is particularly tricky because a "sort by" field will already be displayed in the upper-left hand corner. E.g., the Strategy Optimization report might say "Sort by: net profit," but the results will not be sorted by net profit. In order to sort by net profit, you'll first have to select a different "sort by" field (e.g., "Sort by: profit factor"), and then change it back to "Sort by: net profit."

This should be fixed so that it automatically sorts according to the specified "sort by" field. Note that if the user previously selected a different "sort by" field for an earlier optimization (e.g., "Sort by: profit factor"), it should display that as the "sort by" field for the new optimization and sort according to that factor. (This was the behavior of earlier versions of MultiCharts.)

Steps to reproduce this issue

See above, and see the attached screenshot.  This shows a "Sort by: profit factor" field, but the results aren't sorted by profit factor.

I noticed a closely-related bug if you do the following:

1. Open a Strategy Optimization Report and sort it according to a particular value (e.g., "Return on Account").

2. Close the report.

3. Select "View Strategy Optimizatino Report" to reopen it.

If you follow these steps, the newly-opened report will no longer be sorted correctly. It will say "Sort by: return on account." However, it will not be sorted by the return on account field. (In my case, it's sorted by net profit.)
