Even though MultiCharts is a stable and reliable piece of software , you may want to backup your custom data and studies to be on the safe side in case of should there be a system crash or hardware failure. It is important to understand that '''you can back up MultiCharts files to restore them successfully later only if the backup and restore procedures were completed for exactly the same version''' (the build numbers in brackets that can be found in ''Help -> About MultiCharts'' should match) the software.  Since '''MultiCharts 11''' it is possible to do a backup of user data and application settings in a few clicks using '''Backup Application'''. See [[Backup Application | Backup Application]] for additional information. Since '''MultiCharts 11''' it is possible to restore MultiCharts settings and user data from a backup file using '''Restore Application'''. See [[Restore Application | Restore Application]] for additional information.

There are two ways to backup user data: backup database files or export data from QuoteManager into .qmd QMD files.<br>
Copying database files is faster, but it you won’t be able to merge this data with the other data which already exists existing in the database (if needed.required)<br>
Exporting data from QuoteManager into .qmd QMD files will allow you to merge this data with the other data which will that already exist in the database ; however, some data will not be exported (session templates, symbol roots, exchanges) if it is not applied to any symbol in the futureQuoteManager.<br>
'''To save database files:'''
# Click Windows '''Start''' button.
# Select '''Run'''
# For 32 bit MultiCharts on Windows XP, paste the following command: '''%allusersprofile%\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts'''<br>For 32 bit MultiCharts on Windows Vista/7/8/10 paste the following command: '''%allusersprofile%\TS Support\MultiCharts'''<br>For '''64''' bit MultiCharts on Windows Vista or /7/8/10 paste the following command: '''%allusersprofile%\TS Support\MultiCharts64'''<br>For 32 bit MultiCharts .NET on Windows Vista/7, /8/10 paste the following command: '''%allusersprofile%\TS Support\MultiCharts.NET''' ;<br>For '''64''' bit MultiCharts .NET on Windows XP Vista/7/8/10 paste the following command: '''%allusersprofile%\Application Data\TS Support\MultiCharts.NET64'''<br>
